Himeji Gardens

Himeji Garden Water Feature.

Back in July, I had a day to myself where I thought it would be a brilliant opportunity to grab my camera and finally explore the Himeji Gardens in the city.

I for ages only heard great things about it from people, it seemed and prove to be quite a nice experience amongst all things in Adelaide which being a small city can be quite tedious or reoccurring, especially when trying to explore some new spots for taking photos or just relaxing etc.

I took this shot with my Fuji 50mm F2 lens which I personally love and is honestly my favourite lens other than my recent 16 - 80mm F4 purchase, the aperture on 50mm at 2.8 (which I used for this shot) is like a hot knife through butter when framed appropriately, even with portraiture photography, its a gem.

This has to be one of my favourite shots from that day, the bush closest to me provided perfect framing to have the water feature as the main subject.
I also appreciate the red on the leaves to provide a visual break from the green which is very present among the photo.

Statue commemorating the sister city relationship between Himeji, Japan and Adelaide, Australia.

When walking around I was quite fond of this statue, it was rather visually appealing in my opinion amongst the rest of the garden.

After looking into what it stood for, I found out that it’s a monument to commemorate the relationship between Himeji, Japan and Adelaide, the numbers being the distance between both cities.
I know it’s quite a small factor among the garden itself but personally, it is one of my favourite items there.

When taking this photo I had to stage myself just up on a walkway which was quite narrow and uneven but with the rock to the left and the bush on the right, it provided a great frame to capture the front of the statue with the features it holds.
On a comical note, I'm super glad this came out well cause I had to kneel for the photo and was stumbling all sorts of direction trying to multi task with shooting and maintaining my balance, I'm sure the other people had a fantastic time watching me fumble about.

I won’t speak too much further on this day other than it honestly was a nice, relaxing and mentally reseting day.
I remember needing a hard reset from work and just the busy day to day things, it also was a last minute trip which I do believe that last minute plans usually turn out the best, it can be weird how that’s the case most of the time.

I definitely recommend going there though and checking it out if it’s with friends, by yourself or with your partner.

Once again, if you took the time to come across and see this quick blog, I appreciate your time and interest, you’re a legend.
