A Trip to Melbourne

Brick Lane - Melbourne CBD

Early October, my partner and I finally had a chance to put work aside and have a venture of our own to decompress and spend some well earned quality time together.
Obviously being the city Melbourne is, I had to capitalise on the immense opportunity it provided with photography, I was extremely excited to explore and test my limits with a camera in a new, vibrant city outside of Adelaide where I reside.

These are a collection of shots I took which I am very happy with.

Busy Laneway - Melbourne CBD

Maddy and I spent around five days being able to explore the city, this photo above was easily one of the best finds I came across for a subject.
I had an assumption that I would be able to come across places like this in Melbourne but found it to honestly be more challenging to find tight-net, busy areas as such (possibly just not looking in the right spots).
The framing it gave was excellent, busy, dynamic and allowing a perfect amount of interpretation from multiple businesses, people being present but with such different motives on their day and personally my favourite part is capturing just right to the centre of the photo, the conversation between a shop worker and client.
It’s a small detail but I think gives a great touch amongst the chaos of the photo.

Melbourne Central Station

I feel taking this photo was a must.

Melbourne Central Station is an amazing structure when it comes to architecture as well as a great subject to shoot, it’s quite coincidental the front of the church across from it (where I took the shot) is so well positioned to be able to frame the building so well.
I was hoping to have clearer skies for taking this but thankfully with a touch of clarity, the cloud cover created a well fit mood amongst the bustle as well as an appreciative monotone colour value with all involved.

St. Pauls Cathedral - Melbourne CBD

This shot was purely a look and shoot, I was wanting to shoot this Cathedral but felt limited due to the tight net area it sits within.

I just finished up with taking the picture of the Railway Station and was looking over the photos when I just looked up and noticed this could be a favourable position with a bit of initiative when shooting, it’s honestly probably one of my favourite shots from the holiday.

Broken down building in CBD Melbourne.

This was taken on our first day in Melbourne, unfortunately we weren’t able to check into our hotel until 2pm so outside of breakfast our morning was filled with walking around where I came across this well timed shot.

We stopped for a break where I found this lone pigeon having a moment, a subtle but well placed frame for a nice passing shot. At first I didn’t think much of the photo but once playing around with it in Lightroom, I was quite happy with what I was able to make of it.

Although a “passing” shot, I appreciate what it offers in a photo.

Melbourne Art Gallery.

I’ll finalise this blog of my recent trip with this photo.

This is when we took the time to visit the Art Gallery which has been amazing each time I've visited, including the last time where I was lucky enough to see a Rembrandt exhibition which I wished I had my camera for.

I wanted to challenge myself here and only use my Fuji 50mm F2 lens in the building, amongst many other shots, once we entered this hallway I instantly knew this was going to be a great opportunity for a nice photo with the light and leading lines it provides.

I'm grateful this couple stopped to admire some pieces since it gave me a great subject with all involved to make this an admirable picture, editing this one was a lot of fun.

If you have taken the time to scroll through my first blog and of my recent holiday, I am extremely thankful for your time.

I’m very excited to finally have a platform outside of instagram where I can give more personal perspective and be more free/open with my work, I am very excited to share more with you guys and show a new platform of my work.
